James Bond : Spectre – Title Sequence

I have recently worked on the title sequence for the last James Bond movie “Spectre”. I was working at Framestore London in the role of FX Supervisor.

We were a team of about 6 fx artists and created various fluid and fire effects.

Apart from supervising the fx team, my main contribution was creating the inky hair sequence. The sequence was always meant to be about dancing girls made of ink. I went through many design iterations, trying to find a look that was fresh and unique. We tried different ways to create interesting shapes using CG as well as live-action elements. In the end we came up with the inky hair whilst maintaining the sexy silhouette. Bullet trails and hair were 100% CG (created by Chris Bore and myself), the environment was enhanced with live-action underwater ink.

I attended one of the shoot days which was quite exciting. We filmed a huge amount of fx elements, underwater ink, burning papers, etc. as well as lots of dancing girls. What a day.

It was a great experience working with Daniel Kleinman on another Bond Title Sequence (after the hugely successful Skyfall).

Have a look at Framestore’s website for more information on the sequence as well as a full credits list.
